The arrival of 66001 on to British soil at 08:53 on the 18th of Aprill 1998 heralded a new dawn for British rail freight, the first of several hundred locomotives of a type that would revolutionise Railfreight across the UK (and Europe). There were a few subtle differences between the first two and the rest of the production batch which have never been replicated before on a model. Firstly the lashing eyes to secure the locomotive to the ship were in a different position to later models. The horn grille was also mounted almost flush with the body. Visually 66001 looked more striking owing to its red grilles which were later changed to black.

Our Class 66 model is based on the award winning ‘accura-standard’ platform, with all-wheel powered six-axle bogies, a powerful twin flywheel fitted motor and market leading electronics package.

Highly detailed OO scale model, 1:76.2 scale

  • Minimum Radius 438mm (2nd Radius Set-track)
  • Die-cast metal chassis.
  • RP25-110 profile OO wheels
  • Separately applied etched metal/plastic detail parts, including grab handles, steps, wipers, etc.

  • Full underframe tank detail with brackets and pipework
  • Fully sprung buffers, factory-fitted pipework and screw couplings (for display)
  • Dummy knuckle couplers fitted where relevant
  • Kinetic NEM coupler mounts at correct height and mini-tension-lock couplers
  • “Easi-mag” lift off roof panel to access the decoder and DC light switches

Great work by the team at Accurascale. The model is Immaculate. They’re sold out now but if u can snag one. Get your hands on one. You WONT be disappointed.

Nice Shed Upgrade

As we expected this upgraded version was going to be welcomed if the foibles of the Hattons originals were ironed out, and the model doesn't disappoint. Great detail upgrades, and the axle boxes stay on !! Great to see this workhorse of the UK freight service is now in good hands. As always from the packaging upwards, Accurascale models are a quality owning experience and above all great value.

Accurascale has raised the bar again

The Accurascale 66001 has set new standards for the fidelity, operational capability and value for money of a loco. My model is a lovely smooth runner and can handle long trains of wagons with ease. Well done on producing such a great rendition of a ubiquitous loco.

Another 5* masterpiece from Accurascale

My first Accurascale Class 66 arrived last week and I am delighted to receive yet another museum quality model from the team. It arrived in perfect condition, extremely well packed. Its a DC model and when placed on a test track it ran smoothly from the go and coped perfectly with what is roughly laid set of lines. The detailing, colours and printing is nigh on perfect and this is in my opinion the most authentique 00 model of this particular class 66 locomotive.

Nice 'Shed'

My last model of 66001 was a modified and repainted Lima version, so when the Accurascale version was announced, I knew I'd have to have one. This and 66002 differed from the rest of the EWS batch, and that shows in the model which is a great performer, with great looks.

Red Shed Redemption

A wonderful model building on the solid foundations of the Hattons original and nailing the finishing touches to bring things up to Accurascale standard. The red grilles on 001 are gorgeous, so pleased this unique variant was tooled up.

Excellent Model. Lived up to expectations

Good runner, lights work well, manual could've used a diagram of the dcc/light access. Well worth it.

I will say there is a small issue with coupling due to detail around the coupling. But similarly mounted couplings (like the nuclear flasks) work well and removing the hook on old D style hooks.

TLDR: Great modle, few hickups, nothing major. Good Job Hattons/Accurascale

Good runner easy access to chip my first class 66 in ews livery better than the hattons model I have in freightliner livery
